I’ve been testing rice cookers at Bon Appétit for years now. After testing dozens of models, I’ve learned a thing or two—like the merits of a delayed start mode, why washing your rice is, indeed, worth it, and that despite some stiff competition, Zojirushi rice cookers continually reign supreme.
The Japanese appliance and kitchenware company has been around for over 100 years, and has been making excellent rice cookers for the past 40. The brand’s vast, 22-model lineup has something for everyone, whether you need a cooker that can feed your whole extended family or you want to get nerdy with hyper-specific menu settings and precision induction heating.
I’ve tested enough of these models to know that they’re consistently intuitive to use and deliver great results. The one drawback is the price. When you can get a $20 rice cooker on Amazon, it’s hard to justify spending ten times that on an appliance that does the same thing—even when that $20 cooker delivers subpar results. But if you’re ready to upgrade and give yourself the luxury of perfectly fluffy pots of rice, Prime Day is the time to do it. Several Zojirushi models are on sale at some of the lowest prices I’ve seen all year. Keep scrolling for a rundown of the models I’ve tested and liked that are currently discounted, and know this: Once you’ve switched over from the scratched-up single-button rice cooker you bought in college, I promise you’ll never look back.
Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer NS-ZCC10
The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 includes many of the premium features you find in some other top-of-the-line Zojirushi rice cookers (including our product test winner, which isn’t on sale), but at a comparatively lower price point. Some highlights include the intuitive interface, sturdy inner pot, Keep Warm function, fuzzy logic technology, and an impressive 10 different presets. I also appreciate the retractable cord and handles on the sides of the pot, which make it easier to lift the pot out of the base when it’s hot. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better rice cooker for under $200.
