I’ve been testing rice cookers at Bon Appétit for years now. After testing dozens of models, I’ve learned a thing or two—like the merits of a delayed start mode, why washing your rice is, indeed, worth it, and that despite some stiff competition, Zojirushi rice cookers continually reign supreme.

Some highlights include the intuitive interface, sturdy inner pot, Keep Warm function, fuzzy logic technology, and an impressive 10 different presets. I also appreciate the retractable cord and handles on the sides of the pot, which make it easier to lift the pot out of the base when it’s hot. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better rice cooker for under $200.
